Context

Decathlon had just been through a mega rebrand but the vision work on checkout was confusing and lacked a lot of fundamental functionality to scale across global markets. At times it wasn’t clear what was necessity or what was a nice-to-have. The team was confused, annoyed and lacked clear direction. We got to work on untangling this for them.

Challenge

How might we create a best-in-class global white label checkout design, adhering to best UX practices with seamless tech integrations to lay out the foundations for roadmaps and funding for years to come.

Approach

Worked closely with GPM’s, tech and design Directors and VP’s to establish a clear way forward for the development team to work towards. Ran workshops with key stakeholders including fulfilment teams and backend tech teams to understand conflicting KPIs. Applied Customer data and known pain points to a working prototype which was then user tested, iterated and presented back to the business for further validation. Futher Opportunity Solution Tree mapping also propelled work into realistic and tanglible roadmaps and united KPIs across fragmented teams.

Outcome

A clear way forward for the product and development teams to work towards. At time of leaving the company, the first A/B test had been launched which in itself was already a win. This test was to clearly show delivery options to users and it was a success with a predicted uplift of €8.7m annually.
